News: Official MoonSwatch Rubber Straps Launched For $45 (Yes, They're Available Online!)

Swatch has finally given so many customers what they’ve been clamoring for with a new online store dedicated to straps for the Omega X Swatch MoonSwatch. The e-commerce platform is launching with 11 new strap options (so, one for each MoonSwatch) and all done in a rubber and textile. They are a bit different than the default quasi-NATO MoonSwatch straps by having two nearly-even sides with a fabric outer layer and a moon-surface-pattern rubber inner lining with a velcro closure as well as quick-release spring bars.

According to Swatch, “the rubber straps for the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection are crafted from high-quality, bi-color rubber and feature a textured pattern on both sides, Bioceramic loop and Velcro closure. The top part of the strap resembles an astronaut suit while the underside resembles moon craters. Like the watches in the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection the straps are also adorned with the OMEGA X Swatch, MoonSwatch, and iconic Speedmaster logos. Available in several color combinations, every strap is also fitted with a quick release system and comes with a specialized tool for effortless strap replacement.”

There are five sizes for each strap: XS (5.1-5.7 inches); S (5.7-6.3 inches); M (6.1-6.7 inches); L (6.7-7.5 inches); and XL (7.1-8.1 inches). Fortunately, the straps come with a tool that you’ll need to remove the original MoonSwatch straps, but this shouldn’t be a problem with the welcome addition of the quick-change system to these new straps.

The branding is slightly different here too, where the standard straps have the Omega branding and Swatch branding on either lug, these new straps have the Omega X Swatch logo with “Speedmaster” on the Velcro overlay and “MoonSwatch” on the shorter strap. And there is no text designating the specific watch (for example, “Mission To Saturn” so while each new strap corresponds to each of the 11 MoonSwatches, they can really be mixed and matched to your liking. I know some people have complained about the original straps being a little too stiff so it will be interesting to see what owners think about these new ones.
