The first Seamaster based on the typically no-frills X-33
Just a few weeks after releasing a limited edition Seamaster 300m for the America’s Cup, Omega just dropped another, albeit very different, new Seamaster for the 37th edition of the iconic race taking place in Barcelona. The new ana-digi Seamaster Regatta is a seamless fusion of two legendary Omega designs. And while they have produced a number of regatta watches over the years, this is the first Seamaster to be based on the multifunctional Speedmaster X-33.
As for functionality in addition to the time, there is a moon phase indicator, chronograph, sailing logbook, temperature gauge, accelerometer, and three alarms. These are cycled and operated by the four rubber-cast pushers on the case, three in blue and one at 10’o clock in red which is designated to activate the regatta countdown. All this is powered by the new quartz Calibre 5701 analogue-digital movement which has a 31-month battery life and is accurate to ±7 seconds/year which the brand says is their most accurate quartz movement to date. Note the wave pattern on the enclosed case back which is designed on the “Helmholtz resonance” principles utilizing a resonating cavity to help increase the volume of the alarms.
