It’s Seamaster season at Omega, and just one week after revealing a pair of new steel 300M Divers, today we’re getting a third, rendered in titanium and bronze gold. This is also the third different dial treatment in as many releases, and like the No Time To Die titanium 300M, this one also gets a clean matte dial free of any textures or patterns. The real draw here is the mix of dark titanium, deep green in the dial and bezel, and the bronze gold accents around the bezel and crowns. The tones come together in a perfect balance that could be taken a few different directions depending on your strap choice, though Omega is opting to launch the watch on a titanium mesh, which feels like the right choice, if you ask me.
This generation of the 300M has proven remarkably adaptable, and Omega has leveraged that quality to bring a wide range of character to the collection. What began with those wide, laser-etched waves on the dial has matured into more nuanced takes on the direction (including the waves themselves) that all seem to bring out different qualities of the design. The result is a collection that feels like it’s nearing its apex. That said, the base formula has remained unchanged, and we’ve never seen anything like a "Peter Blake"-style dial, so maybe there is a little more room for experimentation.
The newest Seamaster Diver 300M gets a familiar 42mm twisted-lug case that’s fully brushed, serving as a contrasting base to the greens and gold happening elsewhere. The bezel trim is gold bronze, and it's fitted with an aluminum bezel insert with bronze gold indexes throughout. The crown and helium-release valve are also bronze gold, a theme which carries into the dial with a set of hands that have been given a PVD coating of the stuff. Omega says that the alloy was developed to “retain its natural patina over time,” so don’t expect any gnarly aging with this one.
The dial itself is a deep green that feels decidedly warmer than the standard green seen on the existing steel 300M. It pairs nicely with the brown hour markers and the lume being used, which match the bronze gold tones. As a final touch, the color red also makes an appearance, in the Seamaster signage on the dial, as well as on the very tip of the seconds hand. It’s like a dash of spice over a completed dish that elevates the whole thing.
Inside, Omega is using the co-axial Caliber 8606, which comes with METAS certified master chronometer accuracy. Just as importantly, it ditches the date, which also seems to be a bit of a trend with new Seamster 300M references. In total, this seems to be a great option for enthusiasts that liked the idea of the NTTD Seamaster, but didn’t care for the overt Bond and military references seen throughout. You get much of the same flavor here, with a slightly different color scheme, but the important notes remain clear.
The Omega Seamaster 300M in titanium and bronze gold is available now, and is priced from $9,900 on a green rubber strap, and from $10,700 on a titanium mesh bracelet.
