Longines continues to flesh out its revamped Conquest collection, this week adding a new Conquest Chronograph produced for the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach. The event, which has been held in a different country each year since its beginning in 1931, will take place in Saalbach, Austria next year. Longines, which is an official partner of the International Ski Federation, will be there to celebrate Alpine skiing competition, and will have this new Chronograph to show for it. The watch boasts a sharp gray-and-black colorway with red accents, bringing a chic sporty vibe to the forefront in a way that stands uniquely apart within the collection.
The dial presentation is the real draw here, with the rest of the formula remaining largely unchanged. The 42mm steel case remains fitted to a three-link bracelet with an optional, integrated rubber strap for a more casual appearance. The case measures 14.3mm in thickness, so this will be a watch with plenty of heft on the wrist, but that falls in line with the Longines goal here. This watch has presence, and while it might not be a perfect daily companion as a result, it should still be perfectly wearable for the right occasion.
The gray base of the dial serves as a top layer, and gets a vertical brushed finish the likes of which has not been seen within this collection prior. The subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock are recessed and rendered in deep black, providing a crisp contrast with the printing layered upon them. Longines is using the automatic chronograph Caliber L898.5 in the watch, which is the brand’s exclusive take on the ETA 2892 and which only appears within this collection. The movement sits behind a closed caseback, where you’ll find a skier in action engraved at the center.
Longines introduced this new generation of the Conquest Chronograph just last year, updating its original concept with a more modern and clean design. The chronograph carries a huge amount of historical significance for Longines, and the Conquest represents the company’s most modern interpretation of that complication. The design is classically handsome, and while it’s not really breaking any new ground conceptually, it works within the confines of the brand’s modern design language.
The 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will take place in February,, and Longines is planning to produce 2,025 pieces of this Conquest Chronograph in a nod to the events. The Longines Conquest Chrono Ski Edition is priced from $4,300 on a steel bracelet, and ships with a rubber strap option.
