Rolex Celebrates 100 Years of the Oyster Case With New Oyster Perpetual 41

The Rolex Oyster case is celebrating 100 years of existence, and to cement the occasion, the brand has released a special edition of the Oyster Perpetual in 41mm. It is an interesting take on the two-tone format with a yellow-gold bezel, yellow-gold crown, and an all-steel bracelet. The black dial has gold surrounds to match the bezel, green painted markers, and text that reads “100 Years” at the bottom of the slate-colored dial. That same text is found engraved on the crown. It also features a green Rolex wordmark, which is something we haven’t seen except on the Air King. 

The 41mm Oyster case is waterproof to 100 meters, or 330 feet, thanks to the hermetically sealed Twinlock crown that screws down securely into the case. The domed sapphire crystal is antireflective and virtually scratchproof. The Oyster bracelet, developed in the 1930s to accompany the case, is equipped with an Oysterlink clasp and Easylink comfort extension that extends the bracelet by up to 5mm. 

The movement is Rolex's in-house Superlative Chronometer Caliber 3230, with a host of patented innovations like the high-efficiency, nickel phosphorus Chronergy escapement, an antimagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, and a sturdy 70-hour power reserve. Check in for further updates to this article.
