Nivada Grenchen
Nivada Grenchen, founded in 1926 by Jacob Schneider in Granges (Grenchen), has a long history in watchmaking, with distribution in the U.S. by the Croton Company. Notable for pioneering automatic watches, the brand introduced its first waterproof model, the Antarctic, in 1950, which gained recognition when worn by the US Navy’s Deep Freeze 1 task force expedition. In 1961, they launched the Chronomaster, a waterproof chronograph, and in 1964, the Depthomatic, the first diver's watch with a depth indicator. A year later, they released the Depthmaster, capable of withstanding pressures up to 100 ATM.
