Blancpain Villeret Collection Adds New 38mm Ultraplates and Gem-Set Moon-Phases

Short on Time

Blancpain expands the Villeret collection with new 38mm Ultraplate models plus two updated moon-phase editions, all powered by in-house automatic movements.

The Blancpain Villeret collection, which received an understated facelift back in Fall 2025, has expanded its array of both size and colorway options with today’s release of a new 38mm case, along with some dial treatments and dial-strap options that are making their debut in the elegant line for the first time, plus yet another execution of its signature moon-phase timepiece.

For those unfamiliar, Villeret is Blancpain’s largest and dressiest collection, named after the Swiss village where the firm was founded back in 1735. The first Villeret models emerged in the 1980s, back when most other heritage Swiss watch manufacturers were either hibernating or struggling through the Quartz Crisis, and represented Blancpain’s legendary commitment to mechanical watchmaking. Today, the Villeret collection encompasses a wide range of styles and complications, the most “entry-level” of which is the Ultraplate, defined by its slender profile and by a host of other details endemic to the Villeret series, including a double-stepped bezel; openworked sage-leaf-shaped hands; a central seconds hand with a “JB” counterweight (for the initials of brand founder Jean-Jacques Blancpain); and applied Roman numerals for the hours. As of last year’s soft revamp, the “JB” also appears at the 12 o’clock position on the dial.

Headlining the new releases is a 38mm Villeret Ultraplate in stainless steel, boasting the collection’s first-ever sunburst-finish, salmon-hued dial whose tones shift through different lighting situations from copper to rose to gold. The applied numerals are in 18k gold and treated with a new black finish for a high contrast. (And don't overlook the tone-on-tone date window.) In keeping with the Ultraplate model’s raison d’etre, the case is an ultra-slim 8.35mm thick for an eminently modest profile on the wrist. The watch is mounted on an anthracite-colored nubuck leather strap, another first for the model.

Another version at the same dimensions, offered in both stainless steel and 18k rose gold, features a gold-toned opaline dial with applied golden numerals for a “quieter” look. Rounding out the new Ultraplate releases is a boutique-exclusive timepiece with a two-tone aesthetic, combining a 38mm stainless steel case with a gold-toned opaline dial, solid yellow-gold applied Roman numerals (joining the applied “JB” at 12 o’clock), and a saddle-cut, hand-stitched olive green nubuck strap. On all of these watches, the numeral appliiqués have been resized for visual balance on the smaller dials and meticulously satin finished on their upper surfaces, with polished bevels on their edges.

The 38mm Ultraplate cases join the existing 40mm versions that Blancpain still considers “the heart of the collection.” Inside all of these new models is a tried-and-true, in-house movement from the historic Swiss maison, the self-winding Caliber 1150, which is on display behind a sapphire caseback. The 28-jewel movement incorporates a magnetic-resistant silicon balance spring and stores a power reserve of 100 hours, or four full days. Its skeletonized oscillating weight is in either yellow gold or rose gold, respectively, depending on whether the case is in steel or rose gold.

In addition to the Blancpain Villeret 38mm Ultraplate models, the collection welcomes two new editions of its popular, feminine-sized moon-phase model, the Villeret Phases de Lune. The dainty, diamond-set 29.5mm cases are offered in stainless steel or 18k rose gold, measure 10.35mm thick, and have a modest water-resistance rating of 30 meters. The gold-toned opaline dials feature an enlarged aperture for the moon-phase, on a blue ceramic disk with an 18k gold lunar disk bearing Blancpain’s familiar smiling moon. Another hallmark of the model, the blued serpentine hand for the analog date pointer, is also present, along with applied gold Roman numerals and diamonds to mark the hours. The manufacture movement inside is the automatic Caliber 913QL, with 40 hours of power reserve, a gold rotor and silicon hairspring, and the elite level of high-horology decoration for which the brand has earned rightful renown.
