Seiko Updated Its Best-Selling Chronograph - Speedtimer SSC961, SSC963 & SSC965

March 24, 2026

Since the release of the SSC813 Speedtimer, it has been one of Seiko’s best-selling watches. So when we got word at the end of last year that it was being discontinued, it had us, along with other collectors, scratching our heads.  So why would Seiko cut one of its star players without warning?

Well, it turns out that Seiko has just released three new Prospex Speedtimer chronographs, while phasing out the SSC813, the golden tan-dialed SSC817, and the black SSC819. And the other good news is that the new models offer virtually the same wear experience, while bringing some new dial variants into the fold for this beloved chronograph.

So fear not, if you’re a fan of the panda-dialed SSC813, you’ll be pleased to know that Seiko’s got you covered, while adding some attractive and unexpected new colorways to the mix. Now let’s dig into the new Speedtimer lineup, with a look at the SSC961, SSC963, and SSC965.
