Oris Goes Gonzo With New Watch Releases At Geneva Watch Days 2026

Geneva Watch Days, the timepiece industry’s late-summer showcase, kicks off today, and we’re spotlighting some of the new releases from notable brands. Here is a first look at the newest models from Oris, which range from a manually wound Muppet masterpiece to an e-commerce exclusive with a frosted dial. 

Oris’s undisputed headliner of this year’s Geneva Watch Days exhibition follows in the footsteps of  the Swiss indie brand’s previous collaborations with Disney’s Muppets franchise — 2024’s green-dialed ProPilot X Kermit Edition and the pink-dialed Miss Piggy version that debuted a year later — spotlighting another beloved character and offering perhaps the most horologically ambitious Muppets-themed timepiece yet. The ProPilot X Gonzo Edition pairs a 44mm titanium case and bracelet with Oris’s skeletonized, manually wound Caliber 115 and offers a slew of special details and treatments that reference the watch’s namesake, Gonzo the Great, the blue-furred, hook-nosed, stunt-performing Muppet who first appeared in 1976. In the tradition of Oris’s other Muppet editions, the watch represents serious watchmaking in the service of a not-so-serious visual appeal.

The openworked dial, more monochromatically sober in most Caliber 115-equipped models, features a gradient effect of blue to red to orange and yellow hues to evoke Gonzo’s fur and his colorful outfits. Also referencing the effusive Muppet showman’s attire is the red, chilli-pepper-shaped indicator for the movement’s 10-day (240-hour) power reserve, a key accomplishment for Oris in its evolution as a maker of in-house calibers; the pepper is a recurring motif on Gonzo’s bright yellow t-shirts. The phrase “10 GREAT DAYS,” a reference to his stage name, appears in the interior of the circular power-reserve scale. The dial ring has a lasered finish that seems to change color in different lighting, 

Most audaciously from a horological standpoint is the appearance of Gonzo’s smiling  face directly on the coils of the mainspring, whose 1.8-meters of metal are visible thanks to the skeletonization of the movement’s barrel. The face, laser-etched onto the coil, gradually disperses as the chili-pepper hand nears the zero end of the power-reserve scale and the mainspring loosens. Winding the watch back to its full power reconstitutes Gonzo’s visage to begin another 10-day interval. The Oris ProPilot X Gonzo Edition, which is delivered in a special Muppets presentation box, is available now at authorized retailers for $10,500.

Oris has also unveiled another new model in its core ProPilot series, which has recently undergone a case redesign. The 41mm case of the ProPilot Bronze, including the knurled bezel and the signature oversized fluted crown, are made of a bronze alloy that will oxidize to develop a patina over years of wear, making each watch unique to its owner. Complementing the bronze tones of the case are a black dial, with luminous hands and applied hour numerals, and a dark green suede strap that fastens to the wrist with Oris’s familiar “Lift” clasp, here in the same bronze as the case, whose design is inspired by seatbelts on airplanes. The model’s other aviation-influenced details are also present, including the bezel, whose texture evokes jet turbines, and the large crown, which is a somewhat understated version of the even larger ones on historical models, which were intended for easy gripping by hands in thick pilots’ gloves. The case is 11.7mm thick, 49mm lug to lug, and water resistant to 100 meters. Inside it is the automatic, Sellita-based Oris 733 movement, storing a 41-hour power reserve. The ProPilot Bronze is priced at $2,750. 

The Big Crown Pointer Date — Oris’s oldest and most recognizable timepiece, which has been produced since 1938 — gets a trimmed down, more feminine iteration this year, with four new references in a totally reworked 29mm case. The new models, all in steel and all containing the automatic Swiss-made Oris Caliber 534, are not just downsized for smaller wrists but also feature carefully chosen details to enhance the elegance of the overall package.

The crown has a new, tapered design, the dial’s date-pointer hand is color-matched to the main hands (rather than executed in a contrasting color), the main hands have been openworked, and the date scale is a more understated combination of dots and numerals rather than all numerals. In addition, the dials themselves (in rose-gold tone or black) are now finished with two distinctive textures, with a sunburst center surrounded by a grained outer ring. The cases are 11.4mm thick, water-resistant to 50m meters (enough for a dress watch) and are available on leather straps or steel bracelets with butterfly clasps. Pricing ranges from $2,400 for the models on straps to $2,600 for those on bracelets. 

Finally, Oris has introduced the second timepiece that it has developed in cooperation with the Oris Social Club, the brand’s international fanbase. The Social Club Edition II, which, like its predecessor, will be sold exclusively at the Oris e-commerce site, is built on the platform of the Aquis Date Relief, the company’s popular dive watch, with a 42mm steel case, an impressive 300-meter water resistance, and a unidirectional rotating diver’s bezel in steel with a raised-relief numeral scale. On this edition, the dial has a frosted silver finish and a 6 o’clock date window with a playful twist: on the first of every month, the face of the Oris Bear, the brand’s cuddly cartoon mascot, appears in place of a numeral. The watch’s solid caseback is engraved with the image of Oris’s factory in the Swiss village of Holstein, and its specially chosen strap, an olive-green-hued NATO, is the first use of this type of strap on an Aquia Date model in more than a decade. An automatic, Sellita-based movement, the Oris Caliber 733, beats inside. The Social Club Edition II carries an MSRP of $2,600.
