If you have ever spent a brief amount of time looking at watches online, you will have come across Grand Seiko. The brand has rightfully developed one of the most passionate followings of any name in the industry through their unbelievable demonstration of the craft in every detail. Despite this, if you were ever in the comments on a social post about Grand Seiko, the two common points of feedback were: Can we get some microadjustment on the bracelets, and when can we get a more wearable dive watch that isn’t north of 43mm?
Last year, we saw the former of the two asks answered with the release of the SLGB003, featuring high-intensity titanium construction with on-the-fly functionality within the clasp. But there was another aspect of the introduction that hinted at more possibilities in the future, with the introduction of the UFA platform, 9RB2, enabling a spring drive to fit within a 37mm case. At the time of the release, my mind quickly jumped to thinking that a smaller spring drive dive watch is now likely possible.
And just a year later, we have it, with the release of two UFA divers known as the blue SLGB023, and the green SLGB025, also being known as the Ushio 300s.
