From the first Swiss watch carried into orbit to the chronograph clipped over a spacesuit on the lunar surface, few objects carry a story like a watch that has left the atmosphere. Some of these flew and some were built in their image, but every one traces its line back to the moment timekeeping became essential above Earth.
