It seems that Omega finally got the Speedmaster 38 right. And this isn’t to say that the previous-generation was somehow wrong, it was just different, at least in terms of what diehard enthusiasts were looking for in a smaller Speedy.
Omega has just dropped seven new variants of the Speedmaster 38, with a range of dial and material choices, and we’ll mention all of those, but today we’re focusing on the black-dialed version that hits all the right notes for serious collectors. Some subtle but meaningful changes have brought the overall aesthetic in line with the look of the Moonwatch Professional, but in a more compact form factor with an automatic movement. And while this 38 is all new, a Speedy in a smaller case is hardly unprecedented.
