Given the meteoric rise of the Tudor Black Bay, the lineup has more often been affiliated with the diving genre. That said, for a decade, the Black Bay has included pieces oriented for more everyday wearing circumstances, with dropping the external bezel and reducing the water resistance to 100m.
These pieces, first debuting at Baselworld 2016, were strangely known as the Black Bays as well, usually being given their full name by collectors with the correct case size to follow.
In the years since, the range has been improved upon, with the biggest jump happening in 2023, where the range received, case, dial, movement, and bracelet updates, moving it forward into the next generation. With this, Tudor quietly changed the name to this collection, with them simply being labeled as the Tudor Black Bay One, so no longer will there be confusion in classification compared to its diving peers.
We talk a lot about certain watches’ ability to serve as the fabled ‘one-watch collection’, but the Black Bay One certainly fits the bill better than most.
